Triffids are mobile, aggressive, carnivorous plants. They "walk" on their roots, can fire toxic darts out of the center of their flowers, and possess a rudimentary intelligence, communicating with each other at short distance by clacking two root-appendages together like drum sticks. Although EverQuest II never calls them "Triffids", the Mantraps of Rise of Kunark are definitely and obviously triffids.
There was an early mob, the Catoplebas, found in Feerrott, which many players called triffids. It would seem that the devs wanted to take exception to that by putting "real" triffids in the game.
The Nathsarian frog-biters of Fens of Nathsar are very sluggish and slow-moving, but the erollisi mantraps of Kunzar Jungle can move with amazing speed.
