From time to time the developers introduce short-lived quests that serve to move the overall storyline of the EverQuest II world along. These quests are live and available for a time, then the world moves on and these quests vanish. We keep them here so you can see the kind of thing that has gone before.
If there is a current world event happening, I am sure it will be on the Main Page.
Live Events are also short lived, but they are usually seasonal fun inserted by the devs to coincide with real-world holidays, and can reoccur each year.
